Or, as my friends Sue said to me today, “I hope you have a Happy V.D.”
It took me a second.
The new photo on the top is of the beautiful roses my husband got me for Valentine’s Day. I was not expecting anything today, because we had discussed that gifts were not necessary. Plus, I made a fancy dinner for us on Tuesday night.
However, the gorgeous stems were waiting for me when I got home from work, along with a sweet card. Bob did not want to take the chance of the flowers NOT reaching me on Valentine’s Day (which happened last year), so he picked them up himself and brought them home for me.
Romantic AND practical – does it get much better than that?
I love you, Bob…Happy Valentine’s Day.
Now, let’s hope he doesn’t notice that I didn’t get him anything…
I’ll live vicariously through you. I don’t ever get flowers because “they die”. I did get a box of chocolate turtles (huh?)
I bought myself a box of chocolate-covered strawberries. Mmmmm, heaven in a box.
On a non-sequitor (but still food-related), I subscribe to the Epicurious blog and today’s entry was Chocolate Kumquat Spring Rolls http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/241616?mbid=rss_epinr
For some reason the word Kumquat brings back some kind of bizarre memory from school that we used to laugh at that word. Am I remembering correctly?
Well, I’m not laughing anymore. This sounds AMAZING!!! But where would you buy a kumquat??
Hannaford sells kumquats…in the “exotic fruit” section of the produce department. Not sure about Price Chopper.
I hate to say this, but I have a feeling you will not be able to find them in Miller’s. You may have to travel to Latham to get them.
They’re cute little orange fruits, and the skins are edible. I’ve never eaten one, though I’ve seen them. Adorable little things.
I don’t remember laughing at the word kumquat, but I’m sure we did. It’s such a ridiculous word.
Oh, and I’m jealous of your chocolate turtles…maybe we should swap husbands? 🙂
Nope, we have a Hannaford in East Greenbush! And in case you didn’t hear, Millers is now a Hannaford.
While I was sad to lose a “mom and pop” business in the community, it’s been a wonderful change….that’s where I bought my chocolate-covered strawberries which they had purchased from a Saratoga chocolate shoppe. Mmm good.
I may go buy some kumquats and try that recipe. It sounds that good.
Nah – I’m pretty happy with my husband. He bought me king crab legs for my birthday dinner tomorrow night. Yeah baby!
